ARTISTIC & PRODUCTION (Continued) ARTISTIC & PRODUCTION STEPHANIE A. COLTRIN (Co-Artistic Director/Director–Macbeth) is an award- winning theatre director and producer whose work spans Shakespeare, musicals, contemporary plays, and world premieres. She has been a driving artistic force with Shakespeare by the Sea since 2010 and now serves as Co-Artistic Director along with Suzanne Dean, leading one of Southern California’s most expansive free outdoor theatre programs. For Shakespeare by the Sea, Stephanie has directed and adapted a wide range of productions including Hamlet (twice), Julius Caesar (twice), King Lear, Romeo and Juliet (twice), The Tempest, Othello, Macbeth, King Lear, Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, The Winter’s Tale, Henry V, Titus Andronicus, King John, and Richard III, as well as the virtual productions of Richard II and Twelfth Night. Her work with the company has been featured on PBS, and she has been interviewed by the Folger Shakespeare Library. In addition to her work with SBTS, Stephanie is Associate Artistic Director/Producer and Casting Director for Rubicon Theatre Company, where she has directed Almost, Maine; Buyer & Cellar; Taking Sides; Sylvia; Moonlight and Magnolias; and the Ovation-recommended production of The Last Five Years. She is also Co-Artistic Director of Little Fish Theatre, where she has directed numerous productions including The Lonesome West, Bloody Poetry, Oswald: The Actual Interrogation, Bach at Leipzig, The Love List, Panache, Stones in His Pockets, Meteor Shower, The Weir, Table Manners, And the Stones Will Cry Out, Looking, and Spit Like a Big Girl. She previously served as Artistic Director of CLO of South Bay Cities and the Hermosa Beach Playhouse, where her productions included Miss Saigon (Ovation Award for Best Musical, directing nomination), Seussical (BroadwayWorld Award), and Jesus Christ Superstar (StageSceneLA Award), among many others. Her extensive career also includes teaching master classes, serving as an Ovation Awards voter, judging L.A.’s Next Great Stage Star, and teaching graduate-level seminars at UC Irvine. SUZANNE DEAN (Co-Artistic Director) is an award-winning Theatremaker and Filmmaker. She has been with Shakespeare by the Sea since 2000, currently serving as the Co-Artistic Director. Additionally, she is the Co-Founder/Co-Artistic Director of Little Fish Theatre, Creator of Pub Shakespeare and Globetrotting Shakespeare, Co-Creator of the “We Are Shakespeare” Digital Video Festival, Owner of Rebelfilm Productions, and an Associate Artist with Prague Shakespeare Company in the Czech Republic. US directing credits: As You Like It for SBTS; the LA Premiere of Matthew Spangler’s Operation Ajax, and Betty Shamieh’s CHRISTOPHER BEYRIES (Set Designer) has designed shows for LFT including The Love List, Bach at Leipzig, Looking, And the Stones Will Cry Out, Henry IV Part 1, Taking Sides, Chapter Two and Time Stands Still, Hedda Gabler, Pick of the Vine, and The Weir. Other favorite design credits include Taking Sides (Rubicon Theatre), Moonlight and Magnolias (Rubicon Theatre), Barefoot in the Park, The Light in the Piazza, The 1940’s Radio Hour, Beehive, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Spit Like a Big Girl, Wait Until Dark, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Green Room, Bye Bye Birdie, The Nerd, Steel Magnolias, Twice Upon a Time, Art and Godspell. He previously served as the Technical Director and Resident Scenic Designer for Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities. His work has been seen coast to coast (and beyond) including NBC, Princess Cruises, Actors’ Theatre of Louisville, and Opera San Jose. Chris created the “Behind the Scenes Workshop” at the Santa Monica Playhouse, where he was also the technical director. Chris’ work has taken him to Mexico, Europe, and Japan. JULIA POPRAC (Stage Manager) recently graduated from Chapman University with a BA in Theatre. She has most recently been the stage manager for Medea and assistant stage manager for a club production of Pippin. When not doing theatre you can find her watching movies, spending time with friends and family, and playing cards with anyone who will join her. She has been going to Shakespeare by the Sea shows since she was a kid and is excited to be back creating it for another year. She hopes you enjoy the show! CASE FULTON (Tour Manager) is thrilled to be working with Shakespeare by The Sea for the first time! MIKE THAL (Sound Designer/Engineer) is a Senior Technical Sound Designer with 15 years of experience building interactive soundscapes for live events, video games, and linear media. His credits include productions like Dan Grove’s comedy special Broken Remote, podcasts like Reality Life with Kate Casey, and the Audible original Evil Has a Name. Along with these projects, Territories. International directing credits: As You Like It, Measure for Measure, Double Falsehood and Henry VI Part1 in modern translation by Douglas P Langworthy for Prague Shakespeare Company. As an Actress, she is known both for dramatic work and comedy with extensive experience in Noel Coward, Tennessee Williams, Harold Pinter, Edward Albee, and William Shakespeare – having performed leading roles in 22 of his plays, internationally. For Little Fish Theatre she has appeared in: Hedda Gabler, The Lady’s Not for Burning, Veronica’s Room, What the Butler Saw, The Lion in Winter, Betrayal, Blithe Spirit, Blood Poetry and Rapture, Blister, Burn. She is a Broadway World and StageSceneLA winner for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Betrayal, Much Ado About Nothing, The Taming of the Shrew, Private Lives, Antony & Cleopatra, and Hedda Gabler. As a Filmmaker, she has been producing independent films for 25 years with top tier talent, including the indie darling “The Uninvited” with Pedro Pascal, Walton Goggins, Rufus Sewell, Lois Smith, Elizabeth Reaser, and served as a development consultant for “The Last Showgirl” with Pamela Anderson, Dave Bautista, Jamie Leigh Curtis. She merges her performing, producing, artistic management, and non-profit work throughout Los Angeles and the Bay Area. [email protected] A. JEFFREY SCHOENBERG (Costume Designer) has been designing costumes for L. A. area theaters for over 45 years, and is a four time recipient of the L. A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award. This is his twelfth production for Shakespeare By The Sea, having designed last season’s As You Like It and Julius Caesar. Other past designs include Much Ado About Nothing and A Winter’s Tale for the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum; Resolving Hedda for the Victory Theater; and The History of Comedy (abridged) at the Falcon Theater. He designed Cloud 9 for the Antaeus Company, (for which he received an L. A. Drama Critics Circle Award, A Stage Raw Award, and an Ovation nomination,) and where he has designed more than 15 productions including The Wedding Band, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, The Malcontent, King Lear, and Tonight at 8:30. Other recent designs include Kiss Me Kate for Cabrillo Music Theater; Hamlet for L. A. Women’s Shakespeare; Elmina’s Kitchen for Lower Depths Theatre; Bach at Leipzig, for the Odyssey Theater; The Dead, The Time of Your Life, and Threepenny Opera for the Open Fist Theater; and the NoHo Arts Center’s Elizabeth Rex. He designed 40 productions for the Colony Theater, including Dames at Sea, Side Show, The Ladies of the Camellias, and The Laramie Project. He has been the resident designer for Musical Theatre Guild for the past 14 years. Jeffrey makes a line of Victorian menswear under the name of Mr. Alan Jeffries Fine Gentlemen’s Apparel. Mike has also brought his skills to video games such as League of Legends, Ghost of Tsushima, Batman: Arkham Trilogy, and Call of Duty: WWII. Most recently, he was the principal sound designer for OtherSide Entertainment’s ARGOS: Riders on the Storm. Mike graduated with a Master’s in Music Technology from New York University. With a lifelong love of theatre, he’s incredibly excited to bring his talents to Shakespeare by the Sea! ALLY ATWELL (LACAC intern) is an actor, dancer, yogi and artist. She graduated from high school in 2022 from Deerfield Academy. In December 2026, she is graduating from the University of Southern California School of Dramatic Arts with a minor in Dance. Post graduation she is interested pursuing a career in arts administration or education along with her acting career.
