SBTS Experience
Shakespeare by the Sea is an outdoor Shakespeare festival. The show will open at Recreation Park in Long Beach, and then tour to parks throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. All of our performances are admission-free and open to call. Generally, between 10,000 and 15,000 people witness a SBTS performance each summer.

Shakespeare by the Sea is a hands-on production. In true Shakespeare style, Actors (along with volunteers and staff) set up and strike the set every night. Each performance is a company effort and each cast member is an integral part of the process. Rehearsal hours are limited, so the ability to be a quick study is very important.

As actors self-drive to each park location, we can only consider actors who are based in or have their own housing/transportation in Southern California.

ABOUT THE PLAYS:

Macbeth

Translation by Migdalia Cruz
Adapted & Directed by Stephanie Coltrin

Few plays capture the dangers of ambition and power as vividly as Macbeth. It reveals what happens when grief hardens into ambition, when fear overtakes wisdom, and when those in power silence the voices that speak difficult truths. As prophecy ignites a dangerous desire for the crown, Macbeth and his formidable wife set in motion a chain of violence that will consume a kingdom.
